SISTER CECILE LEVACQUE Peacefully as she lived, Sister Cecile Levacque returned to her Fathers House on October 29, 2003, at the age of 101 years old. Cecile was born in St. Laurent, MB, on January 6, 1902, to Emmanuel Levacque and Victoria Latremouille. Attentive to Gods call, she entered the Grey Nuns novitiate at the Provincial House in St. Boniface on July 26, 1929, made her first profession on August 15, 1931, and consecrated herself totally to God by perpetual vows at the Mother House in Montreal on August 15, 1934. Immediately following her profession, Sister Levacque exercised her culinary talents in St. Boniface Hospital, St. Josephs Hospital in Gravelbourg, Regina Grey Nuns, La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances and at the Provincial House, for a total of 39 years. Always, her mission and purpose was to give satisfaction to all those who partook of her delicious cooking. Woman of duty and determination, Sister Levacque will be dearly remembered for her silence, her faithful presence at prayer, her love for her spiritual and natural families. At the simple celebration at the occasion of her 100th birthday, it was with great joy that she greeted her nieces and nephews who came for the event. She was spontaneous and grateful to those who rendered her a service, presented her with a flower, or called in for a visit during her retirement. Sister Levacque has gone to be with her God and Father, her four sisters and four brothers. She leaves to mourn many nephews, nieces and friends. A liturgy of the Word will be held on Thursday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grey Nuns Provincial House, 151 Despins St. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Leo Couture at the same place on Friday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m. Desjardins Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements, 233-4949 or toll free 1-888-233-4949.
